Who Are You Listening To?

I want to take you back to the beginning of time. To when Adam and Eve lived in Garden of Eden. Here we are in the Garden of Eden. This garden was a beautiful place. The Bible says that every tree was pleasant to sight. That means everywhere Adam and Eve looked it was pleasant to them. (Gen 2:9) Not only was this garden beautiful but it also provided food for Adam and Eve. It would have been nice to just wake up and go grab some food and eat. Not having to work for it or pay for it. We have this beautiful garden for Adam and Eve and you think it can't get better than that. Well it does, God walked in this garden and He would talk to Adam. Can you imagine walking with God in the cool of the day and just talking to Him? How blessed Adam and Eve was!!!

There was one thing they were forbidden to do...Eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And we all know that they did. Let's talk about what happened with Eve. How she let a lie destroy her and the wonderful blessings she had. What was the first thing that Eve did? She stopped and listened to a lie the Devil was saying to her. The Devil asked her didn't God say that you could eat of every tree? Her response ..."We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden". But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall Ye touch it, lest you die.

Then here comes the lie from the devil... And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Gen 3:4-5

Some think of Eve as a stupid woman and can't believe that she did such a thing. How could this woman listen to the Devil? Don't she know he is lying to her? How could she disobey God? Everyone looks down on Eve and thinks if she would have never stopped listened to serpent we wouldn't be in this mess. But how many of us are doing the same thing? How many of us are listening to the lies of the enemy? How many of us have had the Devil say "Hath God Said"? The greatest lie the Devil will want you to listen to is "HATH GOD SAID"

Hath God said He is a healer, hath God said He will give you peace, hath God said He will forgive you of ALL your sins, hath God said He will never leave you nor forsake you, hath God said He can give you joy, hath God said He will be your comforter, hath God said He will deliver you from all your fears, hath God really spoke those promises to you, hath God said you are called, Hath God said.....

The reason the Devil tells these lie is because He wants you to doubt God and doubt the Word of God. This is why it is so important to discern who you are listening to. I have always heard sin will take you further than you want to go... Well, it works the same way if we listen to the lies of the enemy. If you listen to these lies then they will take you further than you want to go.

How do we know who we are listening to? The Bible says " My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" John 10:27. If you are listening to something that is contradictory to the Word of God then you know it's the enemy. How do I stop listening to the lies of the enemy? Stand upon Gods Word. Attack the enemy with the Word of God.

There are 3 stages to a lie. The first is listening. Some people will say there is no harm in just listening. If you could ask Eve today she would tell you that her downfall all started because she simply stopped and listened. I pray today that if you are giving place to the Devil and just listening to him you would attack Him with the Word before you start pondering on the lie and before you start believing the lie.
